Willard Amundson

Willard Amundson, age 84 of Blue Earth went to be with the Lord November 3, 2026, at Parker Oaks in Winnebago, with his loving family by his side. A memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday November 14, 2026, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will take place at a later date.

He was born September 1, 1942, at home in Frost to Rolf and Unice (Njoes) Amundson. He attended Frost High School. In 1964 he met Mary Erickson from Winnebago and were married on November 27, 1965. They shared 61 years together. They were blessed with two children; Lisa and Dennis. 

Willard was a continuous learner in work and life. In 1965, he started working at Schwen's Ice Cream but transitioned to Blue Earth Light & Water in 1966. He leveraged his boiler operator license to a position with the Blue Earth school in 1976. He retired from the school in 1999 as the building and grounds supervisor.

He is survived by his wife Mary of Blue Earth, daughter Lisa (Al) Messner of Fargo, ND, son Dennis (Sarah) Amundson of Mahtomedi, MN, grandchildren Hannah Amundson, Kayla (Jaden Kent) Klein and Sally Amundson, in-laws Jim and Melinda Erickson, Irene Erickson and nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Rolf and Unice, sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Dale Anderson, brother Kermit Amundson, father and mother-in-law Russ and Sally Erickson, in-laws Jerry and Bernie Erickson and John Erickson. 

Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, Parker Oaks or UHD Hospice.
