Sara Jane Redepenning

July 11, 1976 — May 1, 2022

Sara J. Redepenning, age 45 of Blue Earth, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth with Rev. Matthew Lorfeld officiating. A time for visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.

Sara was born on July 11, 1976 in Kearney, Nebraska to Steve and Berneda “B.J.” (Engebretson) Lawrence. Sara was baptized at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna, Nebraska. Sara was confirmed at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth on April 12, 1992. She graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1995. In high school, she participated in golf, tennis, and dance all while making lifelong friends. Sara attended college and obtained her associate nursing degree at Lake Area Tech in Watertown, South Dakota. In her 22-year nursing career, she loved helping and caring for people . At the time of her death, Sara was working at the Mapleton Community Home, where the residents held a special place in her heart. On December 1, 2001, Sara married David Redepenning at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. They lived in Madison, MN when they were blessed with three children, Blake, Allison, and Madie. While living in Madison, Sara was a member of the Madison Ambulance Squad. In 2012, Sara and Dave moved their family to Blue Earth.

Sara was a kind-hearted, free spirit, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was sensitive and loved deeply. Sara enjoyed traveling, golf, and shopping with her daughters – especially for shoes and purses. She also loved spending time with her family on vacation and getting her nails done with the girls. Sara was a good matchmaker, setting up several members of her family with their partners! Above all else, Sara loved her family and always put them first. She was so proud of Blake, Allison, and Madie.   

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, David; her children, Blake, Allison, and Madie; father, Steve (Gerdane) Lawrence; brother, Chad (Angela) Lawrence; nieces and nephews, Emma, Lindsey, Samuel, and Ellie Lawrence; grandparents, Ron (Maxine) Lawrence; parents-in-law, Alan and Barb Redepenning; brother-in-law, Josh Redepenning.

She is preceded in death by her mother, B.J. Lawrence; grandparents, Harold and Bernice Engebretson, brother-in-law, Adam Redepenning; aunt, Ellen Engebretson; Dave’s grandparents, Harold and Delores Redepenning, and Howard and Edith Kittelson.

Sara will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
