Rodney was born April 17, 1932 to Ora and Alice (Larson) Anderson in Blue Earth. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1950. Two years later, he got married and later divorced. Rodney spent a couple of years cutting trees and logging before he was called to service in 1952. He spent two years in the Army, stationed mostly in Germany. After his release from active duty, Rodney started farming and cattle business. He was also an order buyer for cattle for several cattlemen around the country. Rod was an avid hunter and fisherman, who spent nearly 70 years hunting in Wyoming and South Dakota. He loved spending his summers up north, where they had a home on the lake for over 40 years. Rod loved sports, especially he enjoyed watching baseball games.
In 1982, Rod met his soul mate, Marsha Petersen and in 1984 they were married. Together, they continued to farm and operate the feed lot until Rod’s retirement.
