Robert K. Holmseth, age 87, of Frost, died Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Thorne Crest Senior Living in Albert Lea.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019, at 11:00 AM, at United Lutheran Church in Frost, with Rev. Arne Halbakken officiating. Burial will be in South Blue Earth Cemetery, Seely Township, Minnesota. Visitation time will be from 2:00-4:00pm Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Patton Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com.
Robert was born on October 30, 1931, in Frost, MN, the son of Lawrence and Alma (Silrum) Holmseth. At a very young age his mother Alma passed away, and Lawrence married Clara Henderson, who raised the children as her own.
Robert attended country school District 117 of Frost. In 1953, he was drafted into the Korean War. He finished 1st of 28 in his platoon. He served as an army sergeant while stationed in Korea. Following the war, he owned a corn shelling business with his brother Laurice. He then worked at BENCO Electric as a foreman for 25 years.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and running daily until the age of 84.
Robert is survived by his wife, Idalice Holmseth of Frost, children; Bruce (Ranette) Holmseth of Shoreview, MN, Gary (Darlene) Holmseth of Blue Earth, Lynn (Jeffrey) Stelzer of Lakeville, MN, brothers; Richard (Mavis) Holmseth of Blue Earth, Charles (Kay) Holmseth of Blue Earth, sister; Jean Hougen of Blue Earth, eight grandchildren; Jeff (Jenna) Holmseth, Kelly (Matt) Bohlig, Kristi Holmseth, Grant Holmseth, Riley Holmseth, Brianna Stelzer, Blake Stelzer, Zachary Stelzer, four great-grandchildren; Carter, Braden, Jack and Nora.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Laurice (Nylene) Holmseth, brother-in-law; Jerry Hougen.
