Richard "Rick" Alan Ackerman

August 2, 1946 — March 27, 2022

Richard Alan Ackerman, age 75 of Elmore, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at United Hospital District in Blue Earth. A Celebration of Life honoring Rick will be held at 4pm on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Clayton Cemetery in rural Bricelyn, located off of 510th Ave, head east on 65th St, approximately one mile.

Rick was born on August 2, 1946 to Orlando and Marjorie (Hynes) Ackerman in Wells, Minnesota. He graduated Iowa Falls High School, and then went on to vo-tech school for mechanics. Rick married Sharon (Ceminsky) in 1967 and together they had 3 children. Rick proudly served his county in Vietnam. He was a credit to the Army, fixing anything on wheels. After retuning home, Rick worked as an over the road truck driver and spent many summers working in Alaska on a gold dredge. Every fall you could find him at “Farming of Yesteryear”. He enjoyed playing golf, shootin’ pool, a cold beer, and spending time with his family and friends. After retirement you could usually find Rick in the shop, in his favorite spot next to the wood stove. He will be remembered for his easy-going personality, sharp wit, and his sense of humor. He was a proud veteran and will be missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Shellie (Dan) Poetter of Blue Earth, Tara (David) Urbia of Farmington, Josh (Julie) Ackerman of Blue Earth, and Sarah (Manny) Lopez of Inver Grove Heights; siblings, Orlando Ackerman, Teita Amberg, Judy Barnes, Meem Storvick, Kas Greenfield, and Greg Ackerman; grandchildren, Lukas and Lexi Poetter, MacCoy, Mattea, and Matilda Urbia, Delanie and Kaden Ackerman, and Calli Tandberg, Sofia Lopez, and Eva Lopez; and long-time partner, Pamela Tandberg.

He is preceded in death by his parents Orlando and “Grandma Bob” and siblings, Phillip, Mike, and Joel Ackerman.

In lieu of flowers/memorials, please consider sending a donation to “Farming of Yesteryear”, 1736 600th St, Kiester, MN 56051.
