Richard "Dick" Engesser passed away peacefully at his home on January 7, 2026 at the age of 96. He was born on December 23, 1929 to Frank and Lenora Engesser, the youngest of two older brothers, Buss and Bob and his sister, Gen. He was raised on farms near Blue Earth and following graduation from B.E.H.S. in 1947, served in Korea then returned home to Blue Earth, marrying his sweetheart Dolores "Dolly" Collison. Together they raised nine children in a busy, but happy home.
Dick and Dolly lived their deep Catholic faith with humble dedication to Pro-life outreach, God, family and country. He began his career for Armon Decorating and then started his own decorating business, doing some side jobs and eventually becoming a mailman for nearly 30 years until his retirement in 1989. Dick was an active member of the community serving as VFW honor guard, volunteering for many Knights of Columbus/church events and as coach for the K.C. Softball team. Dick was an avid MN Vikings fan and always enjoyed traveling to Brainerd with his brother, Buss, and the boys for their annual Armon Decorating fishing trip.
He is survived by his nine children, 36 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dolly, his parents and siblings, his son-in-law Joel Hoium, son-in-law John Pray, grandson Ethan Rorman, his infant granddaughters, Therese Rysavy and Eleanor Alvarez.
A Mass of Christian burial and celebration of life will be held Thursday, January 15th at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, MN at 11:00am with a one-hour visitation starting at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations sent to the Options Pregnancy Center in Fairmont, MN in memory of Dick & Dolly Engesser.
