Richard "Dick" Rudolph Wilhelmi

January 20, 1938 — December 19, 2018

Richard "Dick" Rudolph Wilhelmi, age 80, of Blue Earth, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Mayo Health Systems in Mankato, surrounded by his loving family.

Dick was born on January 20, 1938, in Devils Lake, ND, to Ralph and Helen (Sullivan) Wilhelmi.  He was raised on a farm in the Loma-Alsen, ND, area.  Dick graduated from high school in Alsen, ND. Each fall, he helped his parents with the harvest.  After high school, Dick spent time working for the railroad.  In October 1956, Dick enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at a missile site in Baltimore, Maryland.  After being discharged, he began his banking career in Park River, ND.  While in Park River, Dick met the love of his life, Doris Novak.  They were married on May 12, 1962, and they raised five children.  Dick's career path took him and his family to Blue Earth and Duluth, MN.  He retired from Wells Fargo Bank in 1998 after 40 years in banking.  Dick and Doris enjoyed traveling and wintering in Lake Havasu City, AZ, being with friends, playing bridge, bowling, golfing, pool league, boating and fishing.

Dick was actively involved in the communities he lived in. He was a school board member, hospital board member, Eucharistic minister, parish council member and youth baseball coach. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather who always provided for his family. He spent many years cheering on his children and grandchildren in their musical and sporting events. He looked forward to annual summer vacations with family at lake resorts.

Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris; his children, Reyne (Jon) Wisecup of Winona, MN, Jackie (Mike) Heinzen of Marshfield, WI, Alan (Marnie) Wilhelmi of Blue Earth, MN, Dale Wilhelmi and Liz Foster of Ramsey, MN, and Alison (Cory) Chopp of Columbia Falls, MT; his treasured grandchildren, Whitney Wisecup, Kellen and Cole Heinzen, Aaron, Wade and Anikka Wilhelmi, and Kody Wilhelmi; his sister, Kathy (Tim) Twete, Devils Lake, ND, and brother-in-law, Ken Fischer, Park River, ND; along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Patricia, and his infant brother, Frank.

For I am already being poured out like a libation, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance.

2 Timothy 4: 6-8
