Richard James was born on February 10, 1935 in Winnebago to Burton and Tressa (Miller) Butler. He attended Delavan High School and graduated in 1954. Dick worked as a farmer in the Winnebago/Delavan area for many years before working as a self-employed truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking trips to Wyoming to pursue both. Dick also enjoyed watching Minnesota sports, especially the Gophers and Twins. He was an avid reader, especially a good western. Dick thought the world of his many nieces and nephews and treated them like his own children.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Lorraine (Pierre) Willette of Blue Earth, Donna Blair of Austin, and Joyce Scofield of Winnebago; and many nieces and nephews.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; sister, Janice Federline; infant niece, Amy Blair; long-time companion, Betty Engelby; and brothers-in-law, Marlon Blair, Richard Scofield, and James Federline.
