Ramona K Ricke

Ramona K. Ricke, 87 of Blue Earth passed away Monday June 3, 2019 at St. Luke’s Care Canter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am Saturday June 8^th at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth with Father Peter Klein officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Blue Earth. Online condolences can be left at www.pattonfh.com

Ramona was born May 21, 1932 to Harold and Catherine (Huiras) Berkner in Sleepy Eye, MN.  She grew up on her family farm near Sleepy Eye.  Ramona met her future husband Bill at a dance at the Orchid Inn Ballroom in Sleepy Eye.  They were married on June 22, 1950.  They raised their five children in southern Minnesota where Bill worked as a grain elevator manager in a number of small towns.  Ramona was a homemaker who enjoyed staying home and raising their children.  She was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton and later St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth.  Ramona enjoyed gardening, bird watching, reading and traveling with Bill.  She especially loved the family’s annual vacation to Park Rapids and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. When talking about her life Ramona stated that “my family is the most important thing in my life”.  Bill died in 1993.

Ramona is survived by her children: Kathy Beck, Zumbrota; Russell (Mary) Ricke, Easton; Larry (Megan) Ricke, Arden Hills; Nancy (Alan) Sletten, Fergus Falls; and Diane (Todd) Ristau, Elmore. Also surviving her are grandchildren Jason Beck (Emmy Fjerstad); Doug (Megan) Beck; Mike Beck (Kimberly Warren Bond); Mark (Lindsay) Ricke; David Ricke; Katharine Ricke (Marcos Ojeda); Margaret Ricke; Isabel Ricke (Nick Rajtar); Anna Sletten (Danny McMillan); Andrew Sletten; and Leah Ristau (Jarod Simons).  Also survived by great grandchildren Hannah, William, Marissa and Marielle Ricke, Melanie, Nathan and Erin Beck, Gabe, Joe, Tyler and Lucy Beck and Irene Ojeda. Ramona is also survived by her brothers Dave (Sandy) Runing and Curt Runing, brother- in- law Roy Ricke, sister- in- laws Marie Schmitz, Luella Ricke and Carol DeKing (Ray).  

Preceded in death by her husband William Frank Ricke, her parents, step mother Cecelia Runing,  infant son David,  brothers Mike (Pearl) Berkner, Ranny (Dolly) Berkner, Dick (Barb) Berkner and sister Barb (Linus) Grathwohl, brother-in-law’s Joe Schmitz, Ben (Phyllis) Ricke, Tom  Ricke and sister in law Pat Ricke.

Ramona’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center and Friendship Court for their kindness and care.
