Muriel Eve Narum Hanna

Muriel Eve Narum Hanna, age 97, formerly of Blue Earth, passed away peacefully at her home at Copperfield Hill Assisted Living in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Muriel was born December 13, 1928, in Barnesville, Minnesota, to Clarence and Alice (Brandt) Narum. Her family moved to Blue Earth in January 1944, where she graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1946. She married Arlin H. Hanna in November 1950; they were married until his death in June 2000.

She devoted 25 years of her working life to serving as secretary for three Blue Earth churches: Salem United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church (now Hope United Methodist Church), and First Presbyterian Church. She retired at age 75 and moved to the Twin Cities to be closer to her daughters. Her family and lifelong love of music were central to her life. She played piano and sang in the choir for both Methodist churches.

Muriel is survived by her daughters, Melody Hanna of Brooklyn Center, Joy Hanna Dienst (Dennis) of Golden Valley, and Beth Ziegler of Mankato; granddaughters Bre Aeikens (Mark) of Beaver Creek and Brittny Bonsack (Jake) of Royalton; great-grandchildren Remi, Rae, Blakely, and Jett; brother Ray Narum of Katy, Texas; niece Brenda Cray (Brian) of Cypress, Texas; and nephew Craig Narum (Denise) of Katy, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlin, and her parents, Clarence and Alice Narum.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, at Hope United Methodist Church, 12080 380th Ave., Blue Earth, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour before the service, with lunch following. Patton Funeral Home of Blue Earth is assisting the family with arrangements. A separate memorial service will be held in Robbinsdale for her Twin Cities friends at a later date.
