Michael Floyd Carlson, age 67 of Frost, MN, passed away at United Hospital District in Blue Earth on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. A gathering of friends will be held at MinnIowa Golf Course in Elmore, Minnesota, on Saturday, May 20, 2023 starting at 2pm.

Mike, also commonly known as “Duckboat” was born August 13, 1955 in Belmond, Iowa to Floyd H. and Ruby M. (Rhoads) Carlson. He was baptized into Methodist faith. Mike graduated in 1973 from Spirit Lake High School in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He bought his first semi in 1977 and started off trucking with his father. Mike had also worked other various jobs throughout the years such as a union carpenter, crane operator, and also an owner/operator of his own trucking company. He loved trucking and most recently had worked for Thilges Brothers of Buffalo Center, Iowa. Mike was married to Rochelle “Shelly” Sunken on July 29, 2004 and established their life together in Frost, MN.

Mike loved fishing, golfing, camping, cruising around Frost on his golf cart, and visiting friends all while having a Budweiser in his hand. He loved to give people a hard time and joke around with them. He was a hard worker and had a very kind heart to where he was always helping those in need. He loved his family and grandchildren more than anything. He was also looking forward to walking his daughter, Kelsey down the aisle.

Mike is survived by is his loving wife, Shelly of Frost; his children from his first marriage, son Kaleb of Elmore; their daughter, Kelsey (fiancé Slater Peterson) of Easton; grandchildren, Aubrey, Oakley and Rylan; his sisters Rhonda Nemmers of Knoxville, Iowa; Donna Kayser of Armstrong, Iowa; and Terri Carlson of Bancroft, Iowa; and also many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Departed this world before him were his parents Floyd and Ruby Carlson, Father-in-law Maynard Sunken, four brothers-in-law; one nephew, Jacob Kayser; and one great nephew, Nicholas Brunskill.

Mike’s memory will be cherished by all his loving Family and friends. He made an impact on many lives and will forever be missed.
