Mary J. Kriewall

Mary J. Kriewall, 87, of Winnebago, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the United Hospital District in Blue Earth.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth with Rev. Matthew Lorfeld officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7pm at Patton Funeral Home. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com.

Mary was born on February 20, 1932 in Martin County to Percy and Tena (Kragness) Rippel. She graduated from Trimont High School, and furthered her education at Mankato State University, where she obtained a degree in teaching. On August 25, 1956, Mary married Roger W. “Coon” Kriewall in Monterey, MN.

Mary taught Health and Physical Education Classes at the Blue Earth Area Schools for 32 years. She also taught swimming lessons and water safety programs in Faribault County from 1950-1977. Mary was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth.

She loved painting ceramics and giving them as gifts. She also enjoyed her time at the lake and visiting with family and friends on the phone.

Mary is survived by her children, Todd (Ann) Kriewall of Albert Lea, Sherry (Kurt) Abel of Blue Earth, and Gina Teems of Park Rapids; grandchildren, David (Nicolette) Abel, Danielle (Travis) Olson, Derek (Mackenzie) Abel, Marisa (Adam) Geiger, Kyle (Nicole) Kriewall, Karli Kriewall, and Kohl Kriewall;  great grandchildren, Hallie and Davison Abel, and Reese and Rylee Olson; and many more family and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger; son, Rick Kriewall; and son-in-law, Mike Teems.
