Marlys Rose Emma Bowles

Marlys Bowles, 78, of Blue Earth and formerly of Denver, CO died Thursday, June 6, 2019 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 10:30am at Patton Funeral Home, 400 E 14^th St. Blue Earth, with Rev. Michael V. Marlys Rose Emma was born June 22, 1940 to Maynard and Frieda (Ziegler) Klatt in Blue Earth, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Elmore.  She graduated from Elmore High School in 1958.  Following graduation, she attended and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Austin, MN.  After graduation, she and several friends packed up and drove to Denver, Colorado, to find work as nurses.  She continued to live and work in Denver for the next 56 years.  Marlys was united in marriage to Jerry Bowles in 1963.  She was later divorced and spent her later years with special friend, Ed Click.

Marlys enjoyed fishing, and shopping at malls, rummage sales and thrift stores. She loved picking up bargains and sharing them with family and friends. 

In 2016, Marlys decided to leave the mountains and return to family in Minnesota.  She never had any children of her own but adored her nieces and nephews and their families just the same. She is survived by nieces; Sheryl (Joel) Eckhardt of Blue Earth and Lynn (Harley) Hassebroek of Buffalo Center, IA, nephews; David (Shari) Klatt of Albert Lea, Michael (Holly) Klatt of Columbus, NE, Dean Greimann of Wayzata, MN and Paul Greimann of Los Angeles, CA, as well as many other family members and friends.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, brother Virgil Klatt and sister Doris Greimann.
