Lyle Paul Zinniel, age 69, of Bass Lake, Winnebago, MN, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Blue Earth Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Blue Earth, MN, with Rev. Dawn Carder presiding. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Morgan, MN at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.pattonfh.com. Lyle was born on July 19, 1947 to Leo and Anna Zinniel in Sleepy Eye, MN. In 1955, Lyle’s family moved to Wells, MN, where his father had been transferred by Del Monte Foods. Lyle attended St. Casimir’s Catholic school in Wells. He graduated from Wells High School in 1965. Lyle then attended Mankato State and received a business degree. After attending college, Lyle worked in Minneapolis for Central Soya until he was transferred to Henderson, KY followed by Little Rock, AK. After Little Rock, he moved to Omaha, NE to work for AGP. Lyle reconnected with Kathy Durfey through his sister, Colleen. Lyle and Kathy were united in marriage on August 18, 2007 at the Bass Lake Community Church of Winnebago, MN. Lyle enjoyed wine making, photography, gardening/growing roses, reading, visiting with friends and neighbors, especially in Basswood Park, and helping people. Lyle is survived by his wife, Kathy; sister, Mary (Jerry) Zimmeth; brother, Leon; brother-in-law, Douglas Lempkie, Richard Nelson; sister-in-law, Janet (Bill) Starke; step-mother-in-law, Trudy Nelson; step-children, Jeffrey (Kim) Soost, Scott (Stephanie) Soost; step-grandchildren, April, Toby, Reece, and Kendal; nieces, Ann True, Jenny Drees, Beth Lempkie; nephews, Tom Zimmeth and Bryan Lempkie; special aunt, Leona Fangmann; many cousins; friends; and his faithful companion, Barney. Lyle is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Colleen Lempkie; brother-in-law, William Nelson; sister-in-law; Shirley Zinniel; and step-grandson, Amos Soost. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Bass Lake Community Church.
