Lonney Lee Skaar

Lonney "Lon" Skaar, age 86 of Blue Earth passed away Sunday June15, 2025 at UHD. A celebration of his life will be at 10:30am Friday June 20th at Patton Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour before the service and burial with military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery. Lon was born October 3, 1938 to Lars and Wylma (Payne) Skaar in Algona, IA. He was one of 4 children. He graduated from Grant School in 1956, after high school he proudly served in the US Army. Upon returning, he worked for the IA DOT for over 30 years. He married Janan Clifford on August 13, 1966 and they became the proud parents of Mark Allen, their only son.

Lon enjoyed sports, reading, music and driving to nearby towns to visit family and his morning coffee group. He retired in 1999 and then moved to Elmore and later to Blue Earth. Janan passed away on November 19, 2017.

He is survived by his son Mark (Holly Lundgren) of Fertile, IA, brother; Ommund (Mary Burmann) Skaar of Bloomington, sister Judy Hofmaier of Omaha, NE, sister-in-law- Cheryl (Norm) Kolve of Elmore, as well as many other extended family, close friends and coffee buddies.

He is preceded in death by his brother Sidney, his parents and wife Janan.
