Jean Agnes was born March 31, 1928 to Floyd and Pearl (Andrews) Sweet in Blue Earth, MN. She grew up and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1946. She went on to receive her master’s degree from Mankato State University in 1951.
On June 22, 1948 Jean was united in marriage to Roy Yeager. From that time on they were inseparable; they enjoyed traveling to many places throughout the world, golfing, playing cards, reading and gardening. They spent many winters at their home in Fountain of the Sun in Mesa, AZ making many friends and memories over the years. Roy passed in 2017.
Education and children would become a very important part of Jean’s life. She worked within education for over 40 years retiring in 1990. She held different positions in the Winnebago, Frost and Delavan school systems, including being a 5th and 6th grade teacher and principal. She was very involved in the community and belonged to several local organizations. Anyone who knew Jean in any capacity; casually, personally or professionally has probably at one time or another received a hand-written note from her as she was very grateful for all the people in her life and was adamant about sharing that gratefulness and gratitude with everyone around her.
Jean is survived by her nephew Bryan (Mary Beth) Sweet of Fairmont, niece Tammy (Allan) Sweet of Lake Crystal, sisters-in-law; Sally Yeager, Mary Matteson and Ginny Midthun as well as many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Roy, her parents and brothers; Bernard Sweet and Roger (Barbara) Sweet.
A very special thank you to Melanie Farnham and Tammy Boie for all your gracious and much appreciated help and time that was given to Jean.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Blue Earth School Foundation, First Presbyterian Church or the United Hospital Foundation.
