Janan Skaar

Janan J. Skaar, age 75 of Blue Earth, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at United Hospital District in Blue Earth.  A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Fr. Peter Klein presiding.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Blue Earth at a later date. Janan was born in Blue Earth, MN on August 20, 1942.  She graduated in 1960.  Janan worked at the Green Giant factory during high school.  Jan also worked at Britt Tech for 16 years. She married Lonney Skaar from Ledyard, IA on August 13, 1966 and they became proud parents to their son, Mark Allen.  Janan and Lon spent much of their married life and working years in Britt, IA.  Janan was a wonderful wife and mother.  Janan enjoyed country music and reading novels in her spare time and she belonged to several book clubs.  Janan’s favorite holiday was Christmas and she loved decorating the Christmas tree.  Janan loved watching soap operas and game shows. After Lonney retired in 1999, they moved to Elmore, MN and then to Blue Earth where Lonney still resides.    Janan is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lonney; son, Mark; sister, Cheryl (Norman) Kolve; and many other loving relatives and friends, including Margaret Trenary and Bea Wolf. Janan is preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Clifford; brother, Robert Clifford; many aunts and uncles; and her beloved cat, Darby.
