Gregory Douglas Keebaugh was born on December 15, 1955 at the Army Base Hospital at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.  He was the fourth child of Lt. Colonel Donald Ross Keebaugh and Marion Dorothy Witt Keebaugh.  Greg attended a number of schools during his formative years, as his family moved to be near the bases at which his father was stationed.  One of his favorite memories occurred when his family lived in France.  Their rental house was adjacent to a park.  One night, a circus moved into the park and set up, and Greg woke up to a giraffe outside his bedroom window.

Upon his father’s retirement from the military, his parents purchased a house in Stoughton, Wisconsin.  Greg graduated from Stoughton High School and from the University of Wisconsin, Stout, with a degree in Engineering Technology.  He worked for a period of time in Rapid City, South Dakota, before moving to Minnesota.  Over the years, he was employed by McQuay’s in Faribault, MN, Mankato Corporation (Bemis) in Mankato, MN, Telex in Blue Earth, MN, and finished out the last several years of his career at 3M in Fairmont, MN.  He retired from 3M on June 30, 2023.

When Greg was employed in Faribault in 1981, he met his future wife, Rebecca (Becky), through mutual friends.  They became engaged three months later, were married On October 2, 1982 at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, and were blessed with 41 years of marriage.

Greg and Becky joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth 25 years ago.  Greg served on the Church Council, was involved in the Trinity Fair Stand Committee, the Technology and Sound Committee, served as an usher, and helped in a number of other areas as needed.  Greg served as a Scout Leader during the years his son was involved in scouting, and enjoyed serving as a Science Fair judge in the schools.

Greg enjoyed camping, grilling, and trying out new recipes for the smoker.  He liked an occasional craft beer and a good bourbon. He was the family’s tech guru and could learn how to do anything.  He had a vivid imagination, and a wonderfully warped sense of humor.  Greg loved his family, enjoyed time with friends, was always willing to help someone out, and was a mentor to so many throughout his working years. He was never one to brag about his accomplishments, but did his best to use his skills and knowledge to help others.  He was the calm, steady presence in the room.

Greg is survived by his wife, Becky, daughters Amanda (Petra) Steinke of Blue Earth, Rachel (Michael) Windsperger of Lake Crystal, and son, Timothy, of Blue Earth, sister, Barbara Poresky of Manhattan, Kansas, brother Brian (Kathy) Keebaugh of Yakima, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Cynthia Abel, parents-in-law Betty & Allen Thompson, brother-in-law Robert Poresky, niece Laura Poresky, sister-in-law Dianne Thompson Hardersen, and sister-in-law Kay Thompson.

Memorials are preferred to: UHD Hospice, Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, Trinity Lutheran Church Sound & Tech Fund, or the Trinity Lutheran Church Youth Fund.
