Heaven is rejoicing in welcoming one of their faithful servants home. Gloria passed away on Sunday, July 6th, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Gloria Ellen Senenfelder was born on October 4, 1942, in Pilot Grove, Minnesota, to Robert and Ida Childs. In 1952, she was lovingly adopted by Harold Richter. Gloria was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmore, MN, and later baptized as a believer at the Evangelical Church in Fairmont, where her relationship with Christ became the cornerstone of her life.
Gloria graduated from Ledyard High School in 1960. She married her “Twelfth-of Never,” James Senenfelder, on September 4, 1959. Together, they were blessed with three children: James Jr., Tammy, and Naomi. In 1981, they welcomed their special nephew Todd McGill and were blessed to raise him as their own.
Gloria had a rich and meaningful career. She worked at the Green Giant factory in Blue Earth and at Stokley in Winnebago before taking a secretary position at Elmore High School. In 1972, she earned her degree as a dental assistant and worked with Dr. P.J. Morgan at Morgan Dentistry in Elmore. After moving to Fairmont in 1987, she continued her dental career with Dr. Nate Jorgensen Dentistry until her retirement at age 63.
For Gloria, retirement was just the beginning. She answered a deeper calling, embracing what she called her “real work” by founding Mourning Glories Ministries—a mission born after God “knocked her to her knees on Hwy 15” during her battle with cancer. She was truly born again and spent the rest of her days spreading the Gospel with passion and love.
A Life of Ministry
Pastor Gloria carried her ministry into local churches, nursing homes, and assisted living centers. She was a vibrant part of the Evangelical Church’s worship team in Fairmont and a regular preacher at the Elmore Academy and Elmore Assisted Living. She served as a grief facilitator for UHD Hospice; Sunday school teacher and superintendent; choir director and janitor; director of numerous Christmas programs at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmore; mentor to countless women; devoted member of the KJLY Prayer Team in Blue Earth; and participant in the Sacred Steps dance team.
“If Gloria knew you, you can be sure she prayed for you.” One of her favorite messages was: “If it’s been put upon your heart to share the Gospel, don’t wait for a sign—God’s already given you one.” – Gloria Senenfelder A Heart Full of Joy Gloria was known for her vibrant spirit and creative soul. She loved camping in the family’s school bus, playing guitar, singing around the campfire, gardening, and spending time with her loved ones. She delighted in playing cards, making caramel corn, and creating her family’s traditional mints. Gloria collected napkins from events and transformed them into Easter egg ornaments, and crafted treasured “Merry Christmas” letters for her grandchildren. She made it a priority to send birthday and anniversary cards to everyone she cared about—a small act that made a big impact.
“In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.” “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” – Proverbs 31:26. Her life verse and personal motto was: “Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10.
