Edna Mae Martin

Edna Mae Martin was born on September 7,1927 in Elmore, Minnesota to Ernest and Bertha (Richter) Meissner. She was baptized October 23, 1927 by Rev. O. J. Kitzmann and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore by Rev. O. J. Kitzmann on June 8, 1941. Edna graduated from Elmore High School in 1945 and then graduated from Minneapolis School of Business. She worked at the Veterans Administration Fort Snelling until returning to Elmore in 1949. She married Harold Martin May 1, 1949. They purchased the hardware store in Elmore. Martin Hardware was in business for 43 years. Harold died in 1991.

 Loves of life-Trinity, family, good music, birds, books and basketball. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore and later St. John’s Lutheran Church, Elmore.

 Edna died March 5, 2026. She is survived by two sons, Jay (Vickie) Eden Prairie and Tom (Tammy) New Prague; 5 grandchildren, Travis, Tara, Tasha (Justin), Dana (Travis), Kendra (Adam); 10 great-grandchildren, Charlie, Woodrow, Willow, Jayden, Levi, Ty, Grayson, Taylor, Evelyn, Hadly; sister, Carol Nelson Madelia; sisters-in-law, Bev and Donna Mae; nieces and nephews.

 Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents; brothers, Elmer, Bud, Roger, and Bob; sister, Elaine, and grandson, Kelsey Jay Martin.

 Graveside service will take place at 11 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Riverview Cemetery, Elmore.

 Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Elmore.
