DuLayne Irene Belau, age 65 of Blue Earth, was called home on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. She passed away at United Hospital District.
A visitation celebrating DuLayne’s life will be held from 4-7pm on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Patton Funeral Home. Private family graveside services will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
DuLayne was born in Blue Earth on July 24, 1956 to Dwayne and Dorothy (Tjelle) Geerdes. She graduated from Rake High School. DuLayne worked at St. Luke’s as a nurses aide until she married Rich Belau on February 16, 1980. After marriage, DuLayne worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Sawyer, Dr. Thorson, Carlson Dental Office, and Reiter Dental Office, until she retired.
DuLayne enjoyed reading and rooting for her beloved team, the Minnesota Twins. She loved cardinals. She was extremely giving and thoughtful, always putting others before herself. DuLayne was right by Rich’s side, helping him with his many projects, including the holiday lights display and the Relay for Life.
Her love for Rich and her dogs and family was only surpassed by her love for God.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Rich; her brothers, David Geerdes of Emmetsburg and Darin Geerdes of Rake; sisters, DyAnna (Gary) Parks of Fairmont, Debra Geerdes of Blue Earth, Dawn (David) Geerdes of Blue Earth, Donna Geerdes of Blue Earth, Dacia (Chad) Viland of Elmore, and Dara (Cole) Geerdes of Swea City; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Dwayne.
In line with DuLayne’s giving nature, her final gift was a donation to the Lion’s Eye Bank. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the charity of the donor’s choice.
