Derald Loge, age 89 of Blue Earth passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 surrounded by family at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. Funeral Service will be Friday, January 8, 2021 at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore at 11 AM with Rev. Robert Roettger officiating. Visitation one-hour prior. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Elmore. A Livestream of the service will be available on the funeral home website. Derald Louis Loge was born on March 1, 1931 to Louis and Josie (Lyon) Loge in Pilot Grove Township, Faribault County, Minnesota. He attended school and graduated from Blue Earth High School. On December 16, 1951 he married Donna Heidenwith in Swea City, Iowa. Derald then joined the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He returned from Korea and took over the family farming business in 1954. This marriage was blessed with three children. Derald was a lifelong crop and livestock farmer.
He was active with 4-H, on several boards at Shiloh Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. Hunting and fishing were a big part of his life too. Fishing with Donna and others at 6-Mile Lake and the Whitefish Chain of Lakes up north. Deer hunting with his sons and grandchildren are cherished memories to hold dear. In May of 2015, Donna moved to St. Luke’s, and Derald officially retired from farming on December 1, 2015. He often shook dice and had a good time with his “Coffee buddies”.
Derald is survived by his wife of 69 years, Donna, of Blue Earth; daughter Ardeen (Doug) Bleess of St. Michael; sons, Kent (Catherine) Loge of Byron and Ronald (Julie) Loge of Blue Earth; grandchildren, Darrin (Andrea) Bleess, Ryan Bleess, Kevin (Marissa) Loge, Nicole Loge, Jessica (Seth) Holland and Brett (Brooke) Loge; great-grandchildren, Leslie and Cameron Bleess, Madison and Ella Bleess, Addyson, Wesley and Elaine Loge, Wyatt, Simon and Cullen Holland, and Stetson and Boden Loge; sister-in-law, Dorothy Loge; brother-in-law, Harold Weise; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, He is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Loge and sister, Phyllis Ann Weise. Memorials are preferred to Shiloh Lutheran Church or Moonlight Lane at St. Luke’s.
