Bill A Hanson

William “Bill” A. Hanson, 78 of Blue Earth passed away on Saturday August 11, 2018 at UHD in Blue Earth.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Patton Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be on Wednesday at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth.  Additional visitation one hour prior.  Patton Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. www.PattonFH.com

Bill graduated from Blue Earth High school in 1958 and joined the US Army Reserves.  On July 10, 1958 he married Jeanette Curtiss in the Blue Earth Presbyterian Church.  Bill grew up in Blue Earth, had some brief stays in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Bricelyn, and Elmore before returning for the rest of his days to Blue Earth to raise his family.  He was a proud man and did whatever it took to care for his family.  A “Bill of all trades”.  These jobs ranged from lousy jobs like tarring roofs (typically on the hottest day of the year), fun jobs like setting up bowling pins (3 Cents a pin), and adventurous jobs like running a pea viner.  Jobs later in adulthood included the rendering plant, King Gas, Bricelyn Elevator, Minnegasco, and Gerring Industries.  Dad finally found home with the Blue Earth Light and Water Plant for 28 years and retired in August of 2001.  He thoroughly enjoyed every minute of his retirement. 

As a teenager, Bill was 2^nd best roller skater in the area.  In his adult years he liked to hunt, go camping, and do woodworking projects.  After retirement he enjoyed working at the ‘little red barn’, Green Giant Information Center and doing word finds.  The last few years, dad spent the afternoon hours on his golf cart which gave him extended life and independence for several years, as well as watching TV, and playing solitaire on the computer.  Those who stopped by knew he didn’t have a lot to say but, he will be greatly missed napping in his chair with a house full of family and friends sitting around the kitchen table.  You don’t have to be blood to be family.  Many called him dad, grandpa, or uncle.  

Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanette; Children, Dalene (Jim Haase) Hanson, Janet (Al) Maloney, Buck (Lori) Hanson, Patty Hanson and Al (Sonja) Hanson all of Blue Earth; grandchildren, Jeremy, Dustin, Kimberly, Paul, John, Marcey, Brian, Danielle, Mick, Julia, and Grace; great grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, Hayley, Marianna, Logan, Addison, Brynlee, Jack, Hailey, Layron, Audrey, Cera, Desiree, Lily, Cameron, Bri, Ivan and “little miss sassy pants” and many others who call him grandpa; twin sister, Barb Tischer of Blue Earth; brothers Chuck Hanson of Apache Junction, AZ, and Dennis (Traci) Hanson of Elmore; sister Becky (Bob) Spencer, of Blue Earth; brothers-in-law, Elwood Sahr of Bricelyn, and Mike Bussinger of Blue Earth;  special friend Roger Uecker of Blue Earth; sisters-in-law, Eunyce (Dick) Renkly, of Arlington SD;  brother-in-law, George (Hazel) Curtiss of Eyota.

Preceded in death by his parents; Son, James Hanson; sisters, Joanne (Rodger) Boettcher, Nancy Sahr, and Judy Bussinger; Parents in law, Ray and Jennie Curtiss; sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Don) Baldwin and Winnie (Bud) Kessel; brothers-in-law, Keith (Phyllis) Curtiss and Dale (Arletta) Curtiss.
