Audrey Jean Dawson, age 96 of Blue Earth was called to her heavenly home, peacefully, July 10, 2025 at UHD. A memorial service will be held at 2pm Friday July 25th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Visitation will be from 4-6pm Thursday July 24th at Patton Funeral Home and continue one hour before the service at the church. Online condolences can be left at www.pattonfh.com
Audrey was born July 30, 1928 to Swan and Julia (Johnson) Peterson on the farm in Kiester. While she was still young, her family moved to Blue Earth where she attended school and after graduation, she attended secretarial school in Minneapolis and worked as a legal assistant. In Minneapolis she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Dawson at Salem Lutheran Church where they were married on October 14, 1950. She and Bob lived in Bloomington and Burnsville where they raised their three children. When their children were grown, they lived in various other places and eventually retired to Blue Earth in 1995.
Audrey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling with Bob to many places, including Hawaii and Europe and their yearly family vacations. She also loved to golf, do cross-stitch, was an avid reader and sports fan of all teams Minnesota; especially the Twins and Vikings. Above all, her faith played a very important part of her life. She loved serving the Lord in the church and community including singing in the choir at every church they attended, volunteering at local food shelves and Meals on Wheels, and serving on various other committees. She was recognized as a TLCW member for over 50 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Patty Waters, Barb (Ray) Kraemer and Scott (Teri) Dawson, her grandchildren; Jessica (Andrew Seifert) Melheim, Aaron (Ashlee Clay) Melheim, Courtney (Eric) Guerrin, Tyler (Leah) Dawson, Jana (Garrett) Whisten, great-grandchildren; Cory Kitchel, Kamren Kitchel, Henri Seifert, Jax Melheim, Mia Guerrin, Birdie Melheim, Caleb Dawson, Wyatt Dawson and Emmett Whisten, her sister Janit Sapa as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, Bob, son-in-law Hal Waters, grandson Cory Waters and brothers Ralph, Kenny, Stacy and Carlyle, sisters Marriam, Donna, Viv and Janis.
Memorial Gifts: It was Audrey’s wish (in lieu of flowers) for memorials to be given to St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center or Trinity Lutheran Church.
