Alvin Wirtjes

Alvin John Wirtjes, age 91 of Elmore passed away Friday June 5, 2026. He was born August 30, 1934 in rural Lakota, IA to Herman and Sena (Johnson) Wirtjes. He grew up on a farm, the second youngest of five children, in a tight knit, very close family.

Alvin met JoAnn Pint in Buffalo Center in 1954 and they were married on November 23, 1957. Together they had 3 sons; Rod, Rick and Randy. He worked as a truck driver his whole life.

He will be dearly missed by his wife JoAnn of Elmore, sons; Rick (Linda) of West Jordan, UT and Randy (Jody) of Blue Earth, daughter-in-law Theresa (Steve) Greenfield-Miller of Des Moines, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren as well as other extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Violet and Iona, brothers Irvin and Art and his son Rod.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
