Alice Fay Winter (Bassett), 95, was born on June 24, 1920 to Arthur and Eva (Cram) Bassett at the Bassett farm in Prescott Township. She passed away on January 27, 2016 at St. Lukes Care Center, Blue Earth MN.Memorial service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Hope United Methodist Church of Blue Earth, with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will be in the Rice lake Cemetery of Delavin.She lived her life near or in Blue Earth, MN. She attended Delavan Public School, excelling in academics and music; she enjoyed growing up on East Lawn Farm and spent many hours riding her beloved Arabian Horse, Daisy. She was married to Henry Warner Winter on July 4, 1937; they farmed and raised a family in Faribault County. She was a 4-H leader and worked many years as the bookkeeper for Blue Earth Lumber Company and later for Smith Sales and Service, until her retirement. She was a devoted, lifelong member of First Methodist Church; actively involved with the Women''s Society and her circle. Alice donated many gallons to the Red Cross Blood Drive during her long, busy life. She enjoyed singing in her church choir, gardening, sewing, and making many beautiful quilts. She truly lived a life of service to others, she loved to entertain her many relatives and friends. She had a great love for cats, dogs and horses and for traveling the world. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; her son, Gary Dean and her brother, Weldon Lee, who perished in the Korean War. She is survived by her two daughters; Diane Jean (Roger) Whitney of Winnebago, MN and Patricia Kay (Charles) McCleary of Breezy Point, MN and daughter in law; Mary (Ahl) Winter of Winnebago, MN. Twelve grandchildren, Lu Ann Whitney, Kent Whitney, Jean (Brian) Millmann, Amy (Rick) Mauris, Steven Winter, Scott Winter, Brian (Kalene) Winter, Brad Winter, Beth Holtz, Tricia (Kurt) Miller, Amanda (Mike) Hintz, Layne (Jennifer) Mc Cleary, twenty great grandchildren and eleven great, great grandchildren. Also, two nieces, one nephew and two sisters in law. A memorial service will be held in the Springtime. Memorials are preferred to Hope United Methodist Church, Rice Lake Cemetery and Hospice
