Blue Earth - Kay "Katie" Frances (Northwick) Germann, age 76, of Blue Earth, died May 8, 2016, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 5- 7 p.m., at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth.She was born to Oswald and Sylvia (Hamre) Northwick on May 21, 1939, in Blue Earth, and was the youngest of their eight children. Kay was a proud Norwegian, a staunch Republican, very patriotic and very proud of all her brothers and sisters. All of her brothers served in the Navy and she often talked of her admiration for them. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Blue Earth. Kay was known for her big heart and selfless way. Kay graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1957 and was a majorette in the marching band. After graduation, she attended secretarial school in Mankato and her first job was at Wells Federal Savings and Loan in Fairmont. On October 25, 1959, she was united in marriage to Darryl Germann, and together they raised their two children, Darrin and Dana. She worked at the License Bureau in Blue Earth for many years until she started working for the Faribault Country Treasurer''s office, where she worked for 29 years until she retired.Kay is survived by her husband of 56 years, Darryl; son, Darrin Germann of Blue Earth; daughter Dana (Rick) Darveaux of Clear Lake, Iowa; brother Ted (Joyce) Northwick of Rosemount; three grandsons; three granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gary (Geri) Germann of Sandstone; and sisters-in-law, Shirley (Rusty) Hannaman of Blue Earth and Mary (Tom) Larson of Marshall.Kay was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mike Northwick, Eugene Northwick, Bob Northwick and Butch Northwick; and sisters, Blanche Wells and Ramona Teig.Memorial donations can be made to United Hands Hospice of Blue Earth.
