Darryl "Harry" D. Germann, age 77, of Blue Earth, died peacefully in his home on June 4th, 2016.Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8th, 5-7p.m., at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth. Interment will be at a later date.He was born to Carl and Mary Belle (Steuer) Germann on October 20th, 1938, in Pilot Grove and he was the oldest of their four children. Darryl was an avid hunter when he was younger and often talked about his hunting trips with his father and brother. Later in life, he developed a love for fishing and spent many weeks every summer up north fishing on Lake Winnie with his fishing buddies and grandson''s.Darryl graduated in 1956 from Blue Earth and was a co-captain on the basketball team that finished second in the state. He was very proud of the fact that even though they were runner-ups, it was in the one class system. He also played baseball for the Blue Earth town team, which was managed by his father Carl. Baseball was a game that Darryl loved and often talked about his memories of playing for his father Carl. Darryl was united in marriage with Kay Northwick on October 25th 1959 and together they raised their two children Darrin and Dana. Kay passed away May, 8th, 2016.He worked for the Faribault County Highway Department as a surveyor for 35 years until he retired in 1991.Darryl is survived by his son Darrin Germann of Blue Earth daughter Dana (Rick) Darveaux of Clear Lake Iowa; brother Gary (Geri) Germann of Sandstone; sisters Shirley (Rusty) Hannaman of Blue Earth and Mary (Tom) Larson of Marshall; three grandsons; three granddaughters ; two great grandchildren; brothers-in-law Jerry Teig of Truman and Ted Northwick of Rosemount.Darryl was preceded in death by his wife Kay (Northwick) Germann; his parents, Carl and Mary Belle and infant brother Virgil.
