Harriet Gertrude Anderson

Funeral services for Harriet G. Anderson, 103, Blue Earth, MN will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11:00 am at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the services. Harriet died Monday, August 29, 2016 at St. Lukes Care Center. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery, Elmore. Harriet was born May 18, 1913 at Pilot Grove (Elmore), the daughter of Myron and Idella (Foster) Lyon. She graduated from Elmore High School in 1931. In 1933 she married Elmer M. Anderson. They farmed in Blue Earth and Elmore area for many years, until they retired in 1985 and moved into Elmore. Later they moved to Blue Earth and made their home at new Life Manor. Elmer passed away November, 2008.Harriet was a longtime member of Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore since 1933. She was active in W.E.L.C.A and Hannah Circle. Her hobbies included quilting with the ladies at Shiloh, embroidery of dish towels that she enjoyed giving to her family as gifts and playing cards with her friends at New Life Manor a couple nights a week. Harriet moved to St. Lukes Care Center in May of 2014. She enjoyed the many Anderson family reunions and other family gatherings to celebrate birthdays and holidays. She and Elmer enjoyed many years at Dawsons Campground and at the Senior Center in Elmore visiting and playing cards with many of their friends. Harriet was an excellent cook and baker. She especially enjoyed making Kringla and her family loved to eat them. She enjoyed singing and playing her harmonica. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Reynold (Renny & Donna) Anderson of Blue Earth; daughter, Joan (Quentin) Hardt of Pocahontas, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; Randy (Deb) Anderson, Deb (Dan) Olsen of Blue Earth , Diane Anderson of St. Augustine, FL, Henry (Lynn) Hardt of Storm Lake , IA, David Hardt of Des Moines, IA, Tim (Denise) Hardt of Laurens, IA and Tom Hardt of Pocahontas, IA; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren, 5 step great-great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and infant son, Eldon.Harriet was the last of her generation. She has now joined Elmer and the rest of her siblings, family and friends in their heavenly home.
