Harold Prokop, age 65, of Elmore, died Friday, January 23, 2015, at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 2:00 PM, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, with Father Peter Klein officiating. Burial will be follow in Riverview Cemetery, Elmore. Visitation time will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com Harold was born April 8, 1949, in Spencer, NE, the son of George and Leona (Lampman) Prokop He was raised in Nebraska before his family moved to the Blue Earth area when he was a young teenager. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1968. He had worked for Elmore area farmers and at Elmore Nursery during high school. He served in the U.S. Army during Viet Nam and returned to Blue Earth where he resumed his job as a Landscaper with Elmore Nursery. Harold became a Master Landscaper with the Nursery and eventually became a partner in the business. He also worked at JM Manufacturing in Winnebago for 14 years. He always enjoyed landscaping and flocking trees and holiday roping during Christmas time. Harold married Carla Weringa on June 25, 1983 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth. The couple was blessed with two children, Christopher and Lindsey. He was a member of the American Legion Sanford post #192 of Elmore and the VFW post 4580 in Blue Earth. Harold enjoyed repairing & driving fast cars, snowmobiling, and gardening. He was a hardworker whose greatest joy was spending time with his wife and kids, as they grew up. Harold is survived by his wife, Carla Prokop of Elmore, son, Christopher Prokop of East Lansing, MI, daughter, Lindsey Prokop of Elmore, brother, Jim (Jane) Prokop of Canby, sister, Jolene Prokop & friend Jeff Larson of the Twin Cities, several brothers and sisters-in-law and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.
