Myrl Mark Stenzel, age 78, of Elmore, died Monday, January 26, 2015, at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015, at 10:30 AM, at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore, with Rev. Robert Roettger officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Elmore. Visitation time will be from 2:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com.Myrl was born July 28, 1936, in Elmore, MN, the son of August and Elsie (Brocker) Stenzel. Myrl was raised and lived his entire life on his family farm east of Elmore. Myrl graduated from Elmore High School in 1953. He was united in marriage to Mavis Mikkelson on November 24, 1956 at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore. Soon after, he served in the U.S. National Guard during the Vietnam War. Myrl was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed raising corn and soybeans with his longtime farm partner and friend, Virgil Klatt. For 40 years, Myrl sold seed. He started selling O''s Gold seed in 1967 and retired selling Asgrow/Dekalb in 2007. He enjoyed the relationships he developed with his customers and he always had time to tell a joke or two. Myrl was very active at Shiloh Lutheran Church, serving as a Trustee and President of the congregation for many years. Myrl was a longtime member of the Elmore American Legion Sanford Post #192. His greatest joy by far was following his kids and grandkids in school and sporting events. His family was the most important thing in the world to him, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Myrl is survived by his wife, Mavis Stenzel of Elmore, his sons: Tim (Amy) Stenzel of Winnebago, Tom (Kay) Stenzel of Sioux Falls, SD, Troy (Brooke) Stenzel of Fairmont, his mother in law, Doris Mikkelson of Blue Earth, his brother, Robert Stenzel of Blue Earth, his brother-in-law, Dean (Cheri) Mikkelson of Mt. Vernon, MO, his sister in law, Donna Stenzel of Victoria, 9 grandchildren, Jordan(Kate), Riley, Brady, Reagan, Peyton, Ethan, Kellen, Aaris Stenzel and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.Myrl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Wilfred "Bill" and Howard Stenzel, sisters-in-law, Dorothy & Joyce Stenzel and his father-in-law, Curtis Mikkelson.
