Funeral services for Lester L. Coy, 90, Elmore, MN will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 10:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery, Elmore. Lester died on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at United Hospital District, Blue Earth, MN. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 4-6:00 pm at Patton Funeral and Cremation Services of Blue Earth and one hour before the services in the church.Lester Lee Coy was born on July 21, 1925 in Hatfield, MO to George and Olga (McKinney) Coy. He attended grade school at Beauford, MN and high school in Mapleton, MN and graduated from Waldorf, MN. Lester was drafted into the US Army in May of 1945 and honorably discharged in July of 1947. He was united in marriage to Mary L. Barnick on October 28, 1947 in Wells, MN. The couple came to the Blue Earth area in 1951 and farmed near Delavan before moving to Elmore in 1956. They continued to farm and raise feeder cattle and other livestock. Lester was very active in the Kossuth County Cattleman''s Association and won many awards for farming including the Outstanding Young Farmer. He received his license to fly in January of 1948 and he was honored to fly for "Angel Flight"; an organization of volunteer pilots who fly critically ill patients across the country. Lester flew airplanes for over 55 years and was extremely proud of his Mooney. He retired from farming in 2009. Lester loved children, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lester and Mary liked to travel with the Friendship Force and went to many countries. Lester is survived by four daughters, Barbara (Merrill) Ludwig of Windsor, CO, Susan (Terry) Kiewiet of Buffalo Center, IA, Patricia (Loren) Skilbred of Wolcottville, IN, Kelly (Joel) Hulke of Mankato, MN; one son, Darrin (Peggy) Coy of Clifton Park, NY; daughter-in-law, Diane Coy of Elmore, MN; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one sister, Ramona Hanks of Owatonna, MN; two brothers, Burton (Lois) Coy of Waseca, MN, George (Pat) Coy of Mantorville, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; one son, Dale; one sister and two brothers.www.pattonfh.com
