Thelma L. Schewe

Thelma Louise (Werner) Schewe 95, of Blue Earth, passed away at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center on November 22, 2015. She was born on June 10, 1920 to Albert and Barbara (Nagel) Werner in Barber Township, near Delavan, MN. She was baptized, confirmed, and a lifetime active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Blue Earth. She worked as a mother''s helper and hired girl after attending a rural school through eighth grade. She married Gilbert Schewe on November 19, 1941 at Immanuel. Together they farmed east of Blue Earth until their retirement and raised their four children. Thelma enjoyed music and played many instruments by ear, entertaining family and friends. She was active in church, 4H, Faribault county home extension activities and quilting groups. She enjoyed reading, baking, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Thelma is survived by two sons and a daughter; Albert (Barbara) of Emily, MN; Margaret(Roger) Henke of Red Wing, MN; Les (Joan) of Blue Earth; daughter-in-law, Sharon Schewe of Eagan; six grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband of 60 years, Gilbert; son, Herbert; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 28, 2015, at 1:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Wes Hafner officiating, burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00pm-6:00pm Friday, November 27 at Patton Funeral Home, 400 East 14th Street in Blue Earth, and one hour before the service at the church.
