Leonard "Ace" Malwitz

Leonard "Ace" Malwitz, 88, of Blue Earth passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.Funeral service will be 10 AM Monday, December 21, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Leonard was born September 7, 1927 to Frank and Helen (Callies) Malwitz in Howard, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Howard.On February 17, 1952 Len married Carol Jean Stock, and together raised their five children in Blue Earth.Leonard was employed by Ankeny and Wiederholt as a carpenter and mason. Ace enjoyed trap shooting, collecting firearms and valued time with his entire family. He was a faithful member at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Blue Earth and will be remembered for his talent and passion for playing guitar.He is survived by his children, Janet (Bob) Doty of Monroe, IA, Wade Malwitz of Elk River, Craig Malwitz of Columbia Heights, Clint (Ann) Malwitz of Lake Elmo and April (David) McGaver of Woodbury; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Arlo Malwitz of Simi Valley, CA; with many nieces and nephews.Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; wife of almost 56 years, Carol; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
