McRea "MICK" E Willmert

MCREA "MICK" E. WILLMERT, age 92, of Blue Earth, died Friday, January 31, 2014, at United Hospital District in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, with Father Peter Klein officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 4:00-7:00pm Monday, February 3, 2014, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth, and 1 hour before the service at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comHe was born December 2, 1921, in Blue Earth Township, son of Reuben & Gladys (Rorman) Willmert. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1940. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942-1945 serving in the South Pacific. He married Rita Scheid on May 23, 1945 in Blue Earth. McRea was elected Faribault County Treasure in 1946 and held the office for 40 years until 1987 when he retired.He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, American Legion where he was Past Commander of Post 89, and Past Commander of County Council of American Legion, Adjutant of 2nd District American Legion for 30 years, also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He was Past President and Secretary of Riverside Town and Country Club.He is survived by his wife, Rita Willmert of Blue Earth, son, William (Jean) Willmert of St. Michael, his daughter, Becky (Tom) Johnson of Walker, his daughter, Barbara (Bob) Bromeland of Blue Earth, his daughter, Betty (Gary) Armon of Blue Earth, his daughter, Brenda (Gary) Gavin of North Mankato, his brother, Winston (Cathy) Willmert of Bloomington, his sister, Karen (Ron) Unke of Fairmont, his 10 grandchildren, Kristi Gilbertson, Ben Johnson, Josh Willmert, Joe Bromeland, Bill Bromeland, Emily Nowlan, Elizabeth Stallman, Kyle Gavin, Kevin Gavin, Kathryn Reeder, and 14 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Barbara Hooper.
