Margie M. Hanson, age 91, of Blue Earth, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth with Rev. Janet Crissinger-Clark officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visiting hours will be from 4:30 to 7:30 PM on Monday at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comMargie was born in Truman, MN, on August 24, 1921, to Ruth (Wilkenson) & Fred Schofield, the middle of three children, with older brother Hank, and younger sister Meryl (Pudgy). She was raised a Baptist. Margie graduated from Truman High School in 1939 and soon married Morris Hanson in Blue Earth in 1941 and became a member of Salem Evangelical UB Church . The couple had five children: Charles (Carol) who lives in Eugene, Oregon, (Sons Corey and Curt), Craig, deceased, who lived in Fairmont, (Son Nathan), Morris (JR) (Barb), who lives in Blue Earth, (Daughters Erica and Jenna), Mike (Margaret) who lives in Martinborough, New Zealand, (Sons Ron and Mark), Joy (Gary) Anderson, who lives in Princeton, MN, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren- going on 9, 1 great great grandchild who preceded her in death. Margie was President of the Auxiliary of Lakeview Care Center, Fairmont, MN, President of the PTA, President of the Legion Auxiliary, Sunday school teacher, Circle Leader , was actively involved in various church committees, Chairman of the PTO, Voting Judge for the City of Blue Earth, member of the Neighborhood Club, belonged to a knitting club, a sewing club, Riverside Town and Country Club, and took ceramics and many Community Ed courses .Margie took great joy in the people around her and loved being social. With an addictive smile, Margie easily drew people to her. Her granddaughter Jenna recently said that the one of the things she most admired about her grandmother was her ability to find the best of every situation, and this was so true. As a mother and a grandmother, she took pride in her family, surrounding them with love. She was active in the Blue Earth community and enjoyed high school sports, especially wrestling and football. She loved to travel, including visits to relatives in Oregon, New Zealand, and trips to Hawaii, England, and the southern states. Although the transition to St. Luke''s wasn''t easy at first, she was happy there and mentioned often how good they were to her.She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister, two infant siblings, her husband, son Craig, one great great grandchild, and other dear friends.
