Bruce Grev, age 67, of Blue Earth, formerly of Odin, MN. died Monday, April 8, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Odin, with Rev. Carla Reierson officiating. Burial will be in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, Odin. Visitation time will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth, MN with a memorial service at 7:00 PM. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comBruce was born October 10, 1945, in Mountain Lake, MN, the son of Knute Melvin and Ethel Carrie (Clipperton) Grev. He was raised in rural Odin where he attended district 71 schools. He was a 1963 graduate of Butterfield High School and a 1965 graduate of Dunwoody Institute. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. He moved to Blue Earth, MN in 1968 and was later married to Katie Yahnke on December 5, 1969 in Crooks, South Dakota. Bruce was an auto mechanic for Hi-Way Ford in Blue Earth and had worked for the Everett Wessels Farm operations. He retired from the Blue Earth/Frost Elevator in 2008. Bruce was a lifetime member of the Butterfield VFW post 9607, Blue Earth American Legion Post 89 and was a charter member of the Aerie 4486 Eagles Club in Blue Earth. He was a longtime leader of the local Veterans Honor Guard and was a frequent worker at the Legion Chicken Feeds in Blue Earth. He enjoyed coffee with the gang at Country Kitchen, socializing with friends later at the Legion Club and trying his luck at any casino that he could find.Bruce is survived by his wife, Katie Grev of Blue Earth, his daughter, Debra Rigdon of Minnesota City, MN, his daughter, Kristin Grev Blowers of Blue Earth, his son, Chad (Rebecca) Grev of Henderson, NV., his grandchildren, Alana & David Schoonover, Brodi & Olivia Blowers and Jody Grev. Also surviving are his siblings: Donna Wise of Prior Lake, Dennis (Elaine) Grev of Columbia, MO, Leslie (Pearl) Grev of Ormsby, Julian Grev of Aitkin, Kathryn Carlblom of League City, Texas, Frances Valley of Port Orchard, WA, Conrad (Kathryn) Grev of Maple Grove and Lowell (Ann) Grev of Oakland, MO.He was preceded in death by his parents.
