Carol L. (Dickman) MartinCarol L. (Dickman) Martin, age 74, of Mankato, formerly of Easton, died Friday, April 26, 2013 at her home in Mankato. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Emerald Township. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th St. Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial donations are preferred to United Hands Hospice, Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aide or Mayo Clinic Health Systems Mankato Dept. of Development.Carol L. (Dickman) Martin was born on January 18, 1939 to Manville Dickman and Florence Lewis in Enid, Oklahoma. Then with her parents they moved first to Northfield, Mn and later to Wells, Mn where she lived until Jr. High and later to Mankato where she graduated from Mankato High School in 1957. Carol met Richard Martin while they were in Jr. High and continued getting to know each other and were united in marriage in January 2nd of 1958. Richard, who was in the Air Force by this time, had to return to duty in Germany in the US Air Force. Upon returning home, Richard and Carol started their family. Later Carol attended Mankato State University and in 1970 graduated with honors, Cum Lade. They lived on the farm 4 miles South of Easton. Carol taught Home Ec. at Frost High School until 1976 and then at Delavan until 1981. She then worked for two years as a legal secretary in Winnebago. Carol completed her career at First Bank in Blue Earth as a loan processer and lending assistant until 2011. Carol and Richard were members of Immanuel Lutheran church Emerald Township for many years, where Carol served on Altar Guild, taught Sunday School, accompanied the choir (along with being a member) and served as an organist, and treasurer of Ladies Aid. She enjoyed the plays at the church. She was a life member of National Education Association and served as President of the teachers association. Richard and Carol enjoyed traveling, where they wintered in the warmth of California. They also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, and celebrated their 25th Wedding anniversary in Hawaii along with many other places.They lived on their farm until 2008, when they moved to Mankato where they currently reside. Carol worked until her health caused her to retired in 2011. Surviving family are her husband Richard of Mankato MN., son, James and wife Tammy, one granddaughter Claudia; and two step grandchildren all of Brandon, SD., son, Stephen and wife Sheryl from Las Vegas NV, sister, Sharon (Ardeen) Beers of Stacy MN, mother-in-law, Mertice Martin of Winnebago, brother-in-law, Gerald (Maxine) Martin and their family, sister-in-law: Shirley (Gary) Goodrich and their family. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Dickman, father-in-law, Erwin Martin and sister-in-law Linda Thorson.
