Kevin J. Murphy, age 77, of Blue Earth, died Monday, May 27, 2013, at United Hospital, Blue Earth. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 13, 2013 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth with Father Peter Schuster officiating.Kevin was born July 23, 1935, in JoDaviss township, MN the son of William and (Isabelle) Murphy. He was raised and educated in Guckeen where he attended school. He graduated high school in Minneapolis and then moved to Denver Colorado where he worked as an Insurance Adjuster for many years. He frequented the YMCA in Colorado and in Minnesota after returning to Blue Earth in 2006. Kevin was a member of the Interfaith Caregivers and volunteered frequently in the community including at the Green Giant Visitors Stand. He was very active in the Blue Earth Area Mentors program where he enjoyed mentoring many students where he forged a strong bond with several members of the Klinksiek family. He also enjoyed penning many opionion letters to the local newspapers, traveling in the SW United States and spending winters in Zihuatenejo and Ixtapa, Mexico.Kevin is survived by his brother, William (Bev) Murphy of Murfreesboro, TN, his brother, Stanley Murphy of Reno, NV, his sister, Naomi (George) Paul of Easton, his sister, Teresa Reed of Tumwater, WA, his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Murphy of Blue Earth, Carlyn Murphy of Hayes, KS, and several nieces and nephewsHe was preceded in death by his parents, sister-Mary Murphy, brothers: Clement, Gerald, Harlan & Duane Murphy, sisters-in-law, Patricia Murphy & Ethel Murphy and brother-in-law, Don Reed.Kevin''s family would prefer Memorials made to BEAM or Hospice is his honor.
