Winifred R. Shure, age 100, of Mankato, formerly of Frost, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Pathstone Crossing Care Center in Mankato. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, 11:00 AM at United Lutheran Church in Frost, with Rev. Arne Halbakken officiating. Burial will be in United Lutheran Cemetery, Frost. Visitation time will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, June 24th at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com Memorial donations are preferred to United Lutheran Church or United Hands Hospice.Winnie was born May 13, 1913, in Frost, MN, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Lee) Hovland.She was a 1931 graduate of Albert Lea High School. She married Martin H. Shure in 1931 and the couple moved to rural Frost. They later built a home in Frost. Winnie worked for the Rationing Office during WW II and then at the Frost Post Office for several years. She also worked for many years at the Frost State Bank. She was an active member of United Lutheran Church in Frost, and also worked at the Frost School where she helped start the school lunch program in the late 1940''s. Winnie enjoyed cooking, Saturday morning coffee time at their home, bowling, coin collecting, cheering for the Minnesota Vikings, attending all her son''s sporting events and watching her grandchildren. Winifred R. Shure is survived by her son Roger (Connie) Shure of Blue Earth, her son, Robert (Lori) Shure of Madison Lake, her daughter-in-law, Sandra Shure of Blue Earth, her sister, Mina Plath of Austin, seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1984, Son, Ronald Shure in 2007, Sisters: Mildred Olson, Gerry Sundve, Charlotte Smith, an infant sister and two brothers, Juan and Guy Hovland.
