My family farmed 14 miles south east of Parshall, ND. I went to country school and received a good education. I used to stay overnight sometimes to help the teachers prepare for upcoming school programs. I took my last two years of school in McVill where I graduated from McVille High School in 1938. Following school I stayed with my aunt & uncle in Austin, MN where I did house work for a few months. I attended a dance there and met my future husband. I was soon married to Russell O. Uecker on February 7, 1939. To this union seven children were born. We moved to Lyle, MN in 1951 where we lived for 25 years raising our children. In 1976 we moved to Oregon; I later returned to Minnesota in 1985 following Russell''s death in 1984. I have always enjoyed cooking and baking and finding new things to try."
