Fern Elaine Anderson of Blue Earth passed away, Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Woodland Manor in Fairmont.Visitation will be at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 3:00pm-6:00pm as well as one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be at East Chain Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00am, with Rev. Robert Roettger officiating. Burial will follow at the East Chain Lutheran Cemetery. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comFern was born March 24, 1929 in Martin County, the daughter of Bryan & Stella (Spittler) Coombes. She graduated from Granada High School. She married Wayne J.E. Anderson on September 11, 1948. In 1960 they moved to Center Creek Township and farmed there, and in 1977 they moved back to Blue Earth. She was a member of East Chain Lutheran Church.Fern is survived by, and was a loving mother to Carolyn Grussing and her husband Paul of Fairmont, son Michael Anderson and his wife Pat of Phoenix, AZ, and an adoring grandmother to Matthew Grussing and his wife Valerie of Silver Spring, MD, granddaughter Robin Hollowell and her two sons, grandson Kevin Ray and his wife Kathleen and their two children, sisters Clara Fritz of Minneapolis, Rita Studer and her husband Jack of Albert Lea, Janet Wertjes of Bricelyn, Ann Falzone of Oakdale, MN, brother Donald Coombes and his wife Shirley of Fairmont.She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne J.E. Anderson, parents, brothers Dean, William, Max, and Harold Coombes, sisters Helen Larson, Margaret Squire, Mary Schlemme, and Joyce Coombes.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Hands Hospice, and East Chain Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
