Dr. PATRICK J. MORGAN D.D.S., age 78, of Elmore, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, with Fr. Robert Herman, and Fr. Leo Koppala as celebrants. Burial will be in the Church of the Japanese Martyrs Cemetery, Leavenworth, MN. Visitation time will be from 5:00 until 8:00pm Friday, April 27, 2012, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comPatrick J. Morgan was born May in 18, 1933 at Olivia, MN, the son of Thomas and Alice (Clancy) Morgan. Pat earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota in Agricultural Economics and then served in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army. Following his military service he attended the University of Minnesota Dental School, graduating in 1962. In 1963, "Doc" began his dental and orthodontics practice in Elmore, Minnesota where he served the public for 37 years. He was married to Rita L. Mathiowetz on August 7th, 1965 in Leavenworth, Minnesota. Together they raised three children in Elmore, MN. "Doc" was active in his community as a member of the: Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Elmore School Board, Elmore Business and Professional Men''s Club, National Ski Patrol. He also served as President of Southern District Dental Society and was co-founder of the Minn-Iowa Golf Course. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Pat''s greatest joy was his family. Times at the cabin and ski trips out west are especially memorable. Pat was a sports enthusiast, both as a participant and a spectator. He never missed a chance to watch his kids during their sports careers. He loyally followed the Twins and Gophers, and was always ready play some catch, swing a club or cast a line.He is survived by his loving and caring wife Rita; two sons, Dr. Paul Morgan (spouse Dr. Rita Miller) of Winona and Dan Morgan of La Crosse, WI; daughter Maria (Jamin Marks) of Orono; brother Dr. George Morgan (Kathy); sisters Peggy (Keith Dyre), Ann (Tom Mack), and Donna (Lynn Wulf); brother-in-law Dr. Tom Newman; sister-in-law Mary Ann Morgan; and his five grandchildren: Mary Morgan, Megan Morgan, Patrick Morgan, Aidan Marks, and Owen Marks.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul Morgan and sister Mary Newman. Pat had a kind soul and a generous heart. He led by example, went out of his way to help others and was always a gentleman. Those fortunate enough to know Pat treasure the time they had with him.
