Agnes Rosalie Lincoln

Agnes Rosalie (Erdahl) Lincoln, 95, was born in Frost on May 15, 1916, to Absalon and Sarah (Brekke) Erdahl. She was proud to have been baptized, confirmed and married at United Lutheran Church , Frost, where her funeral service will also be held. She attended school in Frost then Bricelyn and graduated with the class of 1933 from Blue Earth High School. Agnes completed her college education in 1940 with a major in home economics and minors in art and science at North Dakota State University. Agnes worked in North Dakota with the Extension Service before her marriage to Edwin Herbert Lincoln, of Hunter North Dakota, on July 28, 1943 in Frost. She taught home economics in North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa, retiring in 1972. Agnes and Herb farmed near Frost, MN, beginning in 1957 when the family moved here from Gardner, North Dakota. They raised their family on the Brekke family century farm and were pleased that six continuous generations lived there. Agnes and Herb spent most of their retirement years at Lake Vermilion at Cook, MN. In 1998 Agnes and Herb returned to Agnes'' childhood home in Frost. Agnes and Herb celebrated 55 years of marriage in 1998. Herb passed away in January 1999. Agnes continued to live independently in her own home at Frost until the age of 94. She entered Friendship Court Assisted Living, Blue Earth, in August 2010, where she remained active until her final day. On August 7, 2011 she succumbed to a stroke at United Hospital District, Blue Earth, at the age of 95. Agnes was an avid reader, a Scrabble player, a wood carver, a creative artist, a watercolor painter and quilter, an accomplished gardener, a collector of stamps and antique furniture. She is interested in family genealogy and took pride in being the family historian. Agnes was active in her church and community, providing leadership and serving on committees over the years. Her memory will be lovingly cherished by two sons, George (Charlene) Lincoln of Frost, James (Jeanne) Lincoln of Cave Creek, Arizona; three grandchildren, Lee Lincoln of Frost, Anne and Georgia Lincoln of Cave Creek, Arizona, sister-in-law, Lorraine (Bob) Reeves of Waterloo, Iowa and six nieces and nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by parents, husband-Herb, four sisters, daughter- Susan and an infant son-Andrew. Funeral services for Agnes Lincoln will be held on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at United Lutheran Church in Frost with Rev. Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will follow at United Lutheran Cemetery in Frost. Visiting hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church.
