M. Evelyn Lyon, age 80, of Blue Earth, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 10:30 AM, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, with Father Leo Koppala, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be one hour prior to services at the church. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Blue Earth is assisting the family with the arrangements. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comEvelyn was born November 1, 1930, in Fairmont, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Brady) Nowicki. She was raised and educated in Blue Earth where she was a 1948 graduate of Blue Earth High School. She was married to Lowell L. Lyon on July 16, 1948 in Blue Earth. Evelyn was a homemaker and helped on the farm near Pilot Grove until the mid 1970''s. She also worked part time at the SuperValu Bakery for several years. She was a longtime member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church where she was active in many church groups and events. She was an excellent cook; her specialty being desserts and candies. She had many wonderful vegetable gardens and canned everything from corn, to peaches to pickled crab apples. She enjoyed family vacations to Colorado which were adventures with four adults, ten kids and two tents.Evelyn Lyon is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Gary) Tonn of Blue Earth, her son, Terry (Christine) Lyon of Kingston Spring, TN, her son, Tom (Sandy) Lyon of Centennial, CO., her son, David (Sharla) Lyon of Austin, her daughter, Kristine (Michael) Cain of Bloomington, IN., her brother, John Nowicki of Nashville, TN, her sister, Patricia (Forrest) Johnson of Easton, her sister, Kathleen Beyer of Minnesota Lake, her sister, Jayne (Harry) Albrecht of Minneapolis, her sister, Rosemary Nowicki of Minneapolis, her nine grandchildren & seven great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, husand-Lowell in 2006 and an infant brother- Larry Nowicki.
