Gordon J. Enger

March 24, 1916 — November 22, 2010

Gordon, the son of Michael and Sena (Johnson) Enger,was born March 24, 1916 in Blue Earth. He was raised and educated in Blue Earth where he was a 1935 graduate of Blue Earth High School. While in high school he was an outstanding athlete. Gordy was named captain of his basketball and football teams his junior and senior years. Following school he worked construction with his dad until entering the US Navy during WWII. He was stationed at Midway Island where he repaired submarines. He returned to Blue Earth following the war in 1945 and on July 22, 1946 he was united in marriage to Hazel Denney Christopherson in Blue Earth. Gordon was a self employed carpenter, specializing in finish work in home building. He later worked with Ed Mondale Construction and then with Wiederholt & Ankeny Construction for 30 years. Gordon was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, and was a member of the Blue Earth American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid hunter and particularly loved duck hunting. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his young grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gordon Enger is survived by his wife, Hazel Enger of Blue Earth, his daughter, Bonnie (Duane) Williams of Blue Earth, his daughter, Kathleen (Don) Turvold of Red Wing, his son, Mike Enger of Blue Earth, his daughter, Jean Wagner of Blue Earth, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 3 sisters
