Jerome Sabin

August 22, 1918 — April 17, 2006

Jerome was born August 22, 1918, at Frost, Mn., the son of Oscar and Amanda (Thompson) Sabin.He was raised in the rural Frost & Bricelyn areas where he attended country schools near Dell. He was married to Helen D. Berg on June 26, 1944 in Blue Earth. Jerome served in the U.S. Army during WW II where he was stationed in Alaska, France & Germany. He worked for the Faribault Co. Road Department for over 30 years doing road maintenance, snow plowing & mechanic work until his retirement in the early 1980''s. Jerome was an active member of the VFW post 4580 and American Legion Post 89 in Blue Earth for many years where he served on the color guard and helped organize the avenue of flags at Riverside Cemetery. He was a frequent volunteer in the community including installing flag poles for Blue Earth residents and fixing children''s bicycles. Jerome was active at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore and later at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, where he served as an usher.Jerome is survived by his wife, Helen Sabin of Blue Earth, son, Dean (& wife January) Plantz of Ankeny, Iowa, son, Gary Sabin of Minneapolis, daughter, Diane (& Phil) Lee of LeSueur, brother, John (& wife Judy) Sabin of Blue Earth, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, son- David Sabin, sister-Alice Sabin, brothers- Earl, Donald and Paul Sabin.
