Ronald Willmert

Ronald F. Willmert was born January 29, 1914, at Frost, Mn. to Julius and Kristi (Hatlestad) Willmert. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Frost and married Gladys Alfson on October 3, 1937 at South Blue Earth Church.As a young man, Ronnie joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and was stationed in Tofte, Minnesota, on the Sawbill Trail. Throughout his life he worked as a butcher, grocer and house painter. From 1945-1952 he and wife Gladys owned and operated Willmert''s Cafe in Frost. Ronnie went on to work for the Rural Electric Association (REA) in Frost. In 1963 he attended Jackson Vocational School and then worked as custodian at the Frost Public School until his retirement. After retiring he began working at Gartzke''s Greenhouse and continued there for 25 years.Ronnie served his community and church as a member of the Frost Fire Departement and Frost City Council and on the board of the United Lutheran Church Cemetery. Ronnie enjoyed fishing, vacationing with his family in northern Minnesota and Estes Park, Colorado, caring for his yard and spending time with his family.He is survived by four daughters: Kay (husband Larry) Lloyd of Frost, Bonnie (& husband Duane) Gartzke of Blue Earth, Joyce (& husband Richard) Fraser of Austin, Lois Willmert of Winnebago, seven grandchildren: Julie & John Reeves, Dianna & Scott Montgomery, Shannon & Rick Dickman, Shelly & Ken Kain, Mitch & Amy Gartzke, Alex Fraser and Amanda Fraser, eleven great grandchildren: Christina and Alicia Reeves, Riley, Cassidy and Ally Montgomery, Maggie and Morgan Dickman, Sam and Katie Kain and Griffin and Gus Gartzke, brothers, Vernal (& wife Billy) Willmert of Princeton & Melford (& wife Evelyn) Willmert of Frost, and a special sister, Lorene Campos of Blue Earth.He was preceded in death by his wife- Gladys in 1999, parents and an infant sister.Ronnie ws a kind & gentle man and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
