Thomas Jesse Kimball

May 5, 1928 — August 19, 2005

Thomas Jesse Kimball was born May 5, 1928, in Canton, Minnesota. He went to Elliota elementary country school. When he was a 9th grader he went to Canton High School and graduated in 1946. He served his country in the Air Force for 4 years. On March 22, 1958 he married Kayla Marjorie Glover at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They had 3 sons: Kenneth Clair, Kelley Everett and Michael Allyn. He attended Rochester Junior College for 2 years and graduated from Mankato State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1963. His first teacing position was at Corwith, Wesley, Iowa teaching chemistry, physics, general science and math. He taught there for 3 year. He received a grant from the National Science Foundation to attend Fisk University at Nashville, Tennessee for 1 year at which time he received his Master of Science Degree. After receiving his masters degree he accepted a teaching position at Bricelyn High School in Bricelyn, Minnesota. He taughter there for 23 years. The first summer after moving to Bricelyn he accepted a grant from the National Science Foundation to attend summer school for 8 weeks at the University of Florida in Tallahassee. After finishing summer school he went back to teaching in Bricelyn where he taught all sciences and math. Tom was a Cub Scout Leader and a Boy Scout Leader for many years. Tom joined the Bricelyn Lutheran Church in 1969 where he was a choir member, Deacon for 6 years and President for 2 years. He was president when his son, Kenneth was ordained as a Lutheran Minister in 1987. Tom was past commander and adjutant of the Bricelyn American Legion Nels Lee Post #165. His favorite past time was golfing. He also enjoyed playing the pianon, composing music, singing, reading, camping and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his children and six grandchildren.Tom was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Those surviving are his wife Kayla of Blue Earth, 3 sons: Kenneth & wife Debbie of Waterville, Iowa, Kelly & wife Norma of Eagan, Mike & wife Cathy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa,7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 2 brothers, Allyn Kimball of Folsom, California and Larry Kimball of Canton, Minnesota.
