Barbara A. Johnson

Barbara was born April 19, 1942, at Pilot Grove, Minnesota, the daughter of J. Harold & Margaret R. (Doyle) Johnson.She was a graduate of East Chain High School in 1960. She attended the College of St. Teresa in Winona and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. In 1971 she taught school at the Red Cloud Indian School on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. For over 30 years Barbara lived in the Minneapolis-St. Paul and taught in the Minneapolis School System. She taught english as a second language through the Adult Basic Education Program and worked with adults from around the world.She was a member of the St. Paul Cathedral, worked with many volunteer organizations including Hospice, and was an avid reader. In June of 2003 Barbara began her courageous battle with cancer. She moved to Elmore, MN on Feb. 29, 2004 to maker her home with Charles & Dorothy Johnson. She is survived by her brother, Charles (& wife Dorothy) Johnson of Elmore, sister, Patricia (& husband Charles) Davis of Elk River, sister, Mary Ellen (& husband Richard) Loose of Denver, Colorado, sister, Catherine (& husband William) Freymuller of Omaha, Nebraska, 5 Nieces, 5 Nephews and 2 grand nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents .
